I wanted something different this year for Easter decor. So I found some Dollar Tree plastic eggs, paint, trim, CTMH accessories, bling, vintage jewlery parts, glue and paper napkins. I really love How they turned out.

Easy Explosion Card "Happy Spring"

I just can't stop making these cards.  I'm hooked!  I have had several people ask me for directions, so I decided to do this post. The basic card is really easy to make and you can decorate anyway you want.  So here goes!

First you will need a piece of cardstock 8 1/2" X 5".  On the 8 1/2" side you need to score at 2, 4, 6 and 8 inches.  Turn your paper to the 5" side and score at 2 inches.

Once you have your cardstock scored turn the small (1/2") part to be on your right side.  You need to fold your score lines and cut on the (red) cut lines.(Don't score across the 2" or middle of the panel marked Top front inside as this will the the tall part of the box) Make sure you are cutting  on the 2' (top) of your cardstock. This will make the flaps that fold down.  The small part at the top of the right side will need to be cut off.

You will need to cut one piece of pattern paper at 4 3/4" X 1 3/4"  for the inside panel (that is the first panel going from right to left, the tall one) next you TURN your paper over.  This will be the outside of your box. If you want to decorate these you will need 3 pieces of paper cut at 1 3/4" X 2 3/4" (these will be for the bottom 3 sides)  and 3 pieces at 1 3/4" X 1 3/4".(these will be for the flaps once they are folded down)  If your patterned paper has a print that has a top and bottom make sure you have it is turned the correct way before you adhere to the panels.

The tall part in the back can be decorated if you want or you can use this to add your message or note.
You will also need to cut 2 or 3 pieces of cardstock(the same one you used for your box) 1" X 3" and score at 1/2" on each end. These pieces will be where you add you decorations (flowers, hearts, butterflies) to the card.  I used 3 on mine but 2 will also work.  I have inserted these several different ways and this is the way I have found works best for me. On the inside of your far left panel I glued the first strip to the top left hand edge, the second strip I glued to the top far right side of the panel (almost on the score line) the third on I glued in the center. (make sure your folds on the first and middle strips are pointing to the outside and the fold on the right one is pointing to the right or center,

Next you want to glue or adhere your box together. I leave mine flat and bring the left side over to the right side (make sure your flap is turned over to the inside of the box)
It's a good idea to fold your card flat to make sure your decorations don't extend over the top or edges too far. Especially if your are mailing it.

This is what it looks like from the top once it is folded.

To glue the other side of the flaps, I add some glue to the corners first and used my bone folder to adjust them and then I glued the center one in place.

Whew !!!.... the hard part is done !  Now its time to fill your box up with pretties.  You can glue your pieces to the box or strips if they are long enough and look good.  If you need them to be higher up in the box add some cardstock or clear transparency. ( I used recycled packaging)  You can add as few or as many as you like. You can use stamped images, cricut cuts, stickers, stickers from CTMH complements packs or the assortment packs.  I found that glue works best for this unless you are using the clear transparency type of stuff....then you need to use glue dots.

I hope this makes sense to you guys.  If you have any questions please post in the comments section.

On my Happy Spring Card I used Skylark paper, craft cardstock, stamped images and cricut cut images (I cut them out on our Daisy white cardstock and colored them) The birdie is from a punch.
Please let me know what you think, was this helpful ?  While you are here check out my other post and join my blog to get information on all my new post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Water colors, sponging, embossing, Oh My!

The first day I've had all to myself for awhile. I should be cleaning but here I am; being Courious again! Decided to try some different techniques today. Made myself some mask & stencils. Pulled out the embossing powders, folders & paste, inks and lots of pretty things! Tried some stamp sets I hadn't used before and just had some fun. Unfortunately time has come to "house clean".

Hope you guys like my cards.
Be Courious and try something new. Until next time.
