Washi Tape

I guess you guys have heard of, seen or already in Love with Washi tape. CTMH holiday book has a new 3 pack of Washi Tape "Sparkle & Shine" Washi Tape is so much fun & easy to use. You can use it to make cards, boarders for pictures, accents on your scrapbook pages, to secure your pictures to a page and many more that I haven't thought of yet. Washi is like a paper tape and you can easily remove it without tearing your paper.  But you should know me by now....if the Washi Tape you have on hand does not match what you are working on or not the color you want you can make your own.  Here's a picture of some I made.

On this sheet, I used holiday tissue paper and double sided tape (Scotch).  All I did was take small pieces of the tissue paper and put down a strip of double sided tape. (you need the kind that has the protective strip on one side, unless you are using it right away.) After that you trim the tape of any extra tissue paper.  You can see through the tape so it takes on the colors of the paper you put it on. Here I used a white index card, so you could see the designs. This is great for wrapping gifts, making tags, cards or holiday scrapbook pages.
On this one I used stamps & ink.  So Cool...you can make any color or design you want.  I just stamped on white tissue paper. Background stamps work well, words, most any stamp that is kind of full.  You could also use any solid colored tissue paper,  I think the craft color tissue paper would be great.  Give this a try and see what you can create.  Be Curious! As before feel free to post your creations in the comments section below.  Here is a simple card I made using the Sparkle & Shine Washi Tape from CTMH.  If you want to try Washi Tape you can find it Here

This card I made with Washi Tape. The Shine & Sparkle paper pack, the Santa Clause stamp set, the SOM Scandinavian Wishes (inside greeting), bakers twine, sparkles colored with the holiday red marker. I used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch.  Very quick & easy. I put Washi Tape under the punched out snowflakes and my granddaughter covered some white cardstock with the Washi Tape and punched out some snowflakes.  I added them to the card using foam dots. "Celebrate the Season" is the trim on the 12 x 12 paper, I just cut it out & added it to the card.  I stamped the sentiment with Holiday Red ink, added the bakers twine and the sparkles.

On the inside of the card, I added some Washi Tape along the bottom, a snowflake my granddaughter punched out and the sentiment.

Well I must stop with the FUN stuff and do the necessary stuff; laundry, house cleaning...cooking..(feeding grandkids today) wash dishes ;(    I'd rather be playing.  Speaking of grandkids this is my granddaughter that helped me make this card.  She is beautiful and my helper. Cutest little red riding hood you've ever seen!

Try some Washi Tape.  Be Curious!

Construction "Left overs" Continued

Here are a couple more of my "creations"

Autumn Blessings was made using some leftover lumber. First I sanded the edges to take off the sharp parts, then I painted with acrylic paint (beige)...then....I stamped!  Yes you know me "curious".  I decided I would try stamping.  I used the Fall Harvest stamp set, the Always Grateful stamp set, and the Urban alphabet stamp set. Can't remember what tree I used :(.  I used CTMH ink pads; Chocolate, gypsy, olive, autumn terracotta, sunset and barn red. After stamping I let it dry for awhile & then I heat set it. Then I inked the edges. Let it dry & heat set it.  I sealed it with a spray matte wood sealer. It turned out great. I Love It!

This is another leftover of base board.  Guess what I used on this.  A napkin from Wal-Mart. I decided to try decoupage the napkin because it was so pretty. I cut out some leaves with my cricut & did some embossing & inking to the leaves. Cut the tag on my cricut using olive & terracotta paper.  Used the Always Grateful stamp set, some burlap at the top & some strings from the burlap to attach to my tag. I used liquid glass to adhere everything.  I love the winkled look.
So ...so far that's the end of my "leftover" creations.  Hope you find something you can recreate.  Feel free to post your "creations" in the comments section below.  Would love to see what you come up with.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Fall is Here

Can't you just feel fall in the evening air?  The leaves are starting to turn and it's time for Football games.  Fall is my favorite season.  I love all the warm earth tone colors.  Close to my heart has several paper packs and card stock in those warm colors I love.  Here are a couple fall pages I did at one of the CKC Crops.
On this page I used olive card stock and strips off the Mischief B&T Duos paper. I cut the end strips off the B&T paper and distressed them with a distressing tool, water and coco ink.  I stamped the sentiment on a piece of terracotta card stock using  the Fall Favorites (stamp of the month) in coco ink.  I stamped the leaf boarder using the So Grateful stamp set in coco ink.  The perfect pumpkin is hard to find!  Mallory used hers to sit & rest her leg. (note the pink cast)

As you can see Mallory enjoyed the pumpkin patch with a pink cast & crutches, that resulted from a fall off the monkey bars on the 4th day of school.  Home school for four months.  On these two pages I used olive card stock and Moonlight paper pack.  The leaves were a give away at the convention & I colored them with our alcohol ink markers in several fall colors (one that was a give away at the CTMH booth).  The acorns are brads that I won at one of the crops.
It is a tradition in our family to visit a pumpkin patch & corn maze together each year.  These pictures were of last years visit to Williams Orchard in Rural Retreat.  There were apple shooters, a pumpkin canon, a corn maze and of course a hayride to pick out that perfect pumpkin.  Wait until you see our pumpkin carving event!  Our family enjoys spending time together and Fall is full of fun things to do.  This is the reason I scrapbook.  I want to record our stories for all that come after me.  If you want to tell your stories of Fall events go Here .   If you like the purple and black combo check out the Laughing Lola paper pack.  If you like the oranges, browns and greens....check out the Huntington and Sarita paper packs.  All are just $9.95.
The Stickease assortments and the Huntington assortment have some great fall embellishments.  If you are like me and love to stamp...check out the stamp sets.  Count your Blessings, Happy Autumn, Fall Harvest, and Always Grateful.  If you are a Cricut user the new Artbooking cartridge has several fall themed layouts.   Enjoy the Fall season with your family and loved ones.  Make sure you are Telling your Stories for future generations.  If you want to create beautiful Fall pages, let me show you how.  Make a Comment at the end of this post and I will be glad to help you anyway I can.  Need some one on one time to plan a page or learn a technique?  Let me know & I will set up 30 mins. that we can work together. Just comment at the end of this post and we will work out a time that works for you.

House Building Where does all the trash go ?

I guess you guys may have wondered where I've been lately.  Well grand kids, trying to keep up with the old house and build the new house is very time consuming.  Normally most of my crafting takes place at night when everyone else is in bed. Lately all I can do is fall asleep.  If you have crafting in your blood, you find a way to be creative no matter what.  I have so many new CTMH products that I want to use.  Guess I'll just have to find the time somewhere. Ever wonder where all the leftovers (trash) goes, you know trim, baseboard, lumber or PVC pipe?  I find myself looking at everything in a different light these days. My number one question is : What could that be?  Here are a couple of things I made with some of those "leftovers"

Do you recognize it?  Its baseboard, already painted white.  All I did was add a little dry brushing with ctmh's pearl paint with a few drops of blush re-inker. On one I painted mostly pink & let it dry the dry brushed it with just the pearl paint. On the other I left it white & dry brushed it with the blush tinted paint.  Added some lace from my birthday gift from my sister, some paper flowers(stamped & painted), some paper leaves colored with ctmh markers, and some bling.I added the words free handed and used a button for the O in HOPE.  Cute little gifts for someone.  I hope this post gives you the idea to look at all things around you in a new light.  After all I am the "Curious Crafter"

IF you want to try painting, you can find the pearl paint on my website Here

Fall Card

I Love Autumn

I just love it when you feel the change in the air that says it's Fall.  Football games, falling leaves & all the warm colors of fall are a few of my favorite things.  I have been so busy this year with grand kids and the new house that I haven't had time to do much crafting. CTMH has so many cool products & promotions going on that I haven't been able to keep up.  But today I took some time to make a card for my daughter.
I used the following Close to my heart products to create this card:
Fall Harvest Stamp Set
Colonial White card stock
Goldrush card stock
Autumn Terracotta card stock
Chocolate, terracotta & barn red exclusive inks
Some twine, graph paper & a book page from my stash.

Hope everyone takes some time to enjoy Autumn.  I will be so glad to get moved into our new house.  I will get to craft in my new craft room.....Yea!!!

Baseball Pages using "Flip Flaps" and Photo storage pages

PLAY BALL

Here are the additional pages of my grandsons Baseball game.  I completed them during one of  the Crops at CKC. I used CTMH's photo storage pages and a 4 x 6 Flip Flap because I wanted something fast & easy so I wouldn't need many supplies.
I added the 4x6 flip flap where the blue arrow is.  When you open it I had room for some journaling and you can see the next picture. Aren't those boys so handsome.  As you can guess my grandson's number is #32.  I did not even need adhesive for anything but the journaling spots. Very easy.
This next page shows from hit .....to......home base.!
Using CTMH photo storage pages and Flip Flaps are a easy and creative way to scrapbook your pictures when you have several photos that tell your story. You can do a couple regular pages and add the photo storage pages.  Easy, cost effective and really cool!  You can find all the supplies you need for a project like this Here .  While you are on my website check out the inspiration page and on the Shop page check out While they last (great bargains).

Creating Keepsakes Convention - Charlotte

Fun in Charlotte

Three days at CKC in Charlotte was busy...busy...busy.  We took classes, attended crops and of course shopped on the vendors floor.  Can you believe a hobby like scrapbooking generates this much product (only a small sample I'm sure).  Of course we set a budget....$$......we only went over a little.
We stayed at Hampton Inn UpTown, only a couple blocks from the convention center. The weather was cool (like Fall) and we enjoyed our walks.  We only had rain on the last day.  This is a picture of the fog on top of one of the downtown buildings.  Beautiful!
 Check-In

Everywhere you looked, there was something new and cool!  Here are some pages we made during our classes.

CTMH's new Artbook Cricut Cartridge

I just love this new cartridge.  It's so easy to make a layout.  All you do is select a layout, set your size at 11", choose your image and cut.  Everything you cut will fit perfectly on your layout....no guess work!  On this page I printed the overlay, photo mat, ball layers, the word Baseball and the stars.  It all came together perfect.  I added some of the negetive images, a journaling strip and some brads...a great page!

On this page I used the negative space cutouts on the bottom of the page and added the photo mats, the word All Boy and some brads. The small stars are the negative cuts from the stars on the 1st page.  To get the negative space cuts on the second page I sprayed them with adhesive while they were still on the cutting mat.  Then I put the second page of background paper over top the cutouts & like magic...I had the
background for the second page!  This layout of my grandson playing Baseball was
Fun, Fast and Fantistic to make.

If you would like to make pages like this one, let me show you how.

Scrapbooking as Easy as 1...2....3 ! Using Close To My Heart Products

Thanks to everyone who came out to the "Flip Flap" Party.  The party was great fun!  Everyone learned how to use Close to my Heart photo storage pages and "Flip Flaps".  Time and money are both short for most of us these days.  With busy schedules and the cost of everyday living, it can be hard to find time or money to spend on something extra. If keeping your memories and telling your stories are important to you, using Close to my Heart products and ideas can help you do just that!
In three steps and using three Close to my Heart products you can do both.

Let me show you how.

              1. Select your Photos
              2. Cut your Papers
              3. Put it all together

Products you need:

              1. Paper (Close to My Heart)
              2. Close to My Heart photo storage pages
              3. Close to My Heart Flip Flaps

Select your photos.  Using these products, you can use 12+ photos.  Using the flip flaps will let you add more photos, your page title or both.  Choose your paper to match your photos or your theme.  Cut your paper 4" x 6" (a little less will than this will make your paper fit easier) You will get 6 pieces of paper from one 12'" x 12" sheet of paper and if it's double sided you will have enough for two pages.  If you use a flip flap you will need additional paper. Add your photos, title and embellishments to each 4" x 6" piece of paper and slide into the storage page.  See as easy as 1....2.....3.....!   For more information about products go here.   I have added a couple of layout ideas and a couple of pages made at our party.  You can also find inspiration and ideas using the video bar on this page & search for CTMH Flip Flap pages!

This is with a photo storage page and a 6" x 12" flip flap.
